David A. Benoit
David Benoit advises employee benefit plan sponsors and
fiduciaries on the ever-expanding multitude of statutes
and legal issues affecting employee benefit plan.  David
has over 15 years of experience with all aspects of health
and welfare plans, qualified retirement plans, executive
compensation issues, fiduciary compliance and related
litigation, as well as extensive experience working with
the Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service.  

David has written for numerous national publications
and has spoken at multiple local and national
conferences on retirement and health plan design,
administration and compliance, fiduciary duties,
executive compensation issues and the general "alphabet
soup" of employee benefits topics such as ERISA, HIPAA,
USERRA, HRAs, HSAs and FSAs, as well as the various
"numbers" -- 105, 125, 401(a), 401(k), 409A, 419, 457 and
similar Tax Code sections.

David received his J.D. degree in 1994 from the
University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt
Hall).  He received his degree of Bachelor of Science in
Foreign Service,
cum laude, in 1990 from Georgetown
University, achieving the prestigious Certificate of Latin
American Studies.  He is fluent in Spanish and literate in
Portuguese.  Mr. Benoit is admitted to practice in Georgia
and before the U.S. Court of Appeals (11th Circuit), the
U.S. District Court (ND Ga.), and the Supreme Court of
Georgia.

Prior to founding Benoit Diaz in the fall of 2006, Mr.
Benoit practiced for over a decade with the national law
firm of Alston & Bird, LLP, and spent 3 years as a
Manager in the Benefits Tax group at Deloitte & Touche.

Maria del Pilar Diaz
Pilar Diaz focuses her legal practice on design and
compliance of employee benefit plans, with a specialty in
health and welfare plans.  Ms. Diaz also has a
background in general corporate law.

Pilar was awarded her J.D. degree,
magna cum laude, in
1993 from the University of Puerto Rico.  Ms. Diaz was a
member of the University of Puerto Rico Law Review and
was published in that journal.  Ms. Diaz received her
undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Science in 1990
from Georgetown University with a dual major in French
and Business Administration.  A native of San Juan,
Puerto Rico, Pilar is fluent in Spanish and French, and
has studied and worked extensively outside of the United
States.  Ms. Diaz is admitted to practice in Georgia,
before the Supreme Court of Georgia and before the
United States District Court for the Northern District of
Georgia.

Pilar practiced for a number of years with the national
law firm of Troutman Sanders LLP in Atlanta, Georgia,
and is a founding member of Benoit Diaz
